More Radio History (cont.):
Without
filling in too many details, Germany led to Vietnam and a discharge
back to Boise, Id. where I went back to school, worked in the family
business and continued to ham.
I've met hundreds of wonderful people over the years and we're still in
contact with many of the friends who gave us the start. It's been a
great hobby. |
The current setup includes severeal
VHF/UHF rigs, packet gear (doesn't see much use since the internet
began to take over) and several HF radios. I have an amplifier that
hardly ever gets used. The tuner is one of the MFJ Differential models
and I like it a lot. It connects via ladder line to a 600' long wire
that starts at 100' near the top of a fir tree in the front yard and
ends at about 65' in an Oak tree out in the pasture. It works great on
all bands.
There is a cubical quad and tower in the barn but who has time to get
it in the air?
